Welcome to the Faces of the Civil War Book Club. We meet on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Georgia Boy Cafe at Park Circle (325 Virginia Ave in Hagerstown). If you have any questions, please call the main library at 301-739-3250, ext. 141.

Quilts! You can focus on quilt patterns that emerged from the war years, the stories of quilts on the Underground Railroad, or why quilts had nothing to do with slaves making their way to freedom. The library has a couple books on the topic.

This month we'll be talking about the role of animals during the war (chickens and camels and bears! Oh my!) Contact us if you'd like help finding some relevant books.


June 7th:

Minstrels

This month's topic is minstrels. What were their shows about? Who attended minstrel shows? What influence did they have? The library has several books on the topic.
