It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...another great library Comic Con!

Comic Con coordinators, staff, volunteers have planned an exciting day for those attending this year. Comic Con has something for everyone! Special activities that appeal to people of all ages can be found in every space the library has to offer. Activities such as:  crafts for kids, video gaming, fandom meet-ups, drawing tutorials, and more.

This year, we will have a special guest at Comic Con: Jarrett Krosoczka! Jarrett is the author of the popular Lunch Lady and Jedi Academy graphic novel series! His workshop will begin at 11:30 and seating will be on a first come, first serve basis. Books will be available for purchase and signing following the workshop.

Artists from Artway Alliance will lead three workshops throughout the day. "The Art of Illustration," "Getting Started in Comics," and "Hit Confirm: A Brief History of Character Design in Video Games" are free to attend and do not require pre-registration. Times will be announced the day of Comic Con.

One of the most popular activities taking place is the annual Costume & Cosplay Contest. Those interested in participating in the costume contest can register the day of the event from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be a Costume & Cosplay Parade at 3:00 p.m. Contestants will walk down the center staircase of the library so spectators can gather on all levels to watch. Once all participants have reached the bottom level, the winners will be announced and awarded prizes. There will be three age groups: Children ages newborn to 12 years old, Teens ages 13-19, and adults 20 and older.

Today's guests can enjoy shopping at a variety of vendors, attend workshops, visit with artists and authors, and more while at the Fletcher Library.

Comic Con is free to attend! So come on out and enjoy a super-hero filled day!

The library thanks this years Comic Con sponsors: The City of Hagerstown, the Friends of the Library, Howard's Art and Frames, Penguin/Random House, Western Maryland Regional Library.
