A Painful Love, Part 1

A Painful Love, Part 1

By JJP, Staff Writer

So, this is not a normal love story. It will be dark and scary at times, but if you’re still reading, welcome to hell/love.

To get you up to speed, my name is Lilith. I’m 17 years old, and I’m a monster-person-thing (?). To be honest with you, I don’t know what I am. My best guess is that I am half demon and half lion.  Weird, I know.  But I have the amber eyes from the lion side of things, and as for the demon part…well, I’m still finding that out myself.

But, anyway, I live in the underworld with my little brother Leo, my mom Amara, and my dad Ebba.  Very meaningful names, I know.  We are that type of family.

The Underworld has a school called “Hell Academy.”  Yeah.  The best part is when you get to say, “I’m going to hell, mom – see you later!” What I’m saying is true, but it’s not really that bad.

Around the school, I’m kind of popular (I guess)…I don’t really know when I became popular, but it just kind of happened.

There is one thing in my life that is just out of my reach: a girl named Luna.  She’s a full demon, but she is just so beautiful.  She has the most beautiful red eyes and jet-black hair that just reaches her hips – her style is simply awesome.  In short, she’s equal parts hot and dangerous without even trying…I almost hate her for it.  I’ve tried talking to her, but she usually just looks me up and down, then walks away.

But this day was different.  She walked up to me and said, “You are SO cute when you’re mad.” I thought my heart actually stopped beating the instant her voice entered my ears. I said nothing, just looked at her – not letting myself believe that she actually talked to me.

Now it’s later in the day, and a weird text comes in from an unknown number:

meet me in your backyard in 5 minutes

is all it says…

Nothing Holding Me Back

WCFL Teens Blog - Thu, 07/23/2020 - 08:04

By MJ Maheu, Staff Writer

The first place I’m going is anywhere

But where I used to call home

That place brings back memories

But some of them I wish my brain didn’t hold

That room was where everything happened

The promises and dreams, hopes and silent screams

The helpless and quiet yells together with the never ending tears

Those walls held me into place just when

I thought I was about to break

Those blankets and pillows protected

In the wee hours of the nights in their warm embrace

That desk had seen so many books

Each being read and re-read to pass the time

If not reading, then drawings sprawled across the chipped and stained wood

That mirror reflected my image

Reminding me of what I had done right

Or what I had done wrong

What I longed for and what I had lost

One side had me crying but the other smiling

That was the side I decided to show the world, a never ending smile

And that window, how I remember

The sounds of the morning song coming from those beautiful birds

In the morning or those blaring fire alarms abruptly disturbing a peaceful night

The passing cars constantly was a reminder

For me to never stop dreaming

These were the only things that kept me going

But in the end, there’ll be nothing holding me back

Too Close

WCFL Teens Blog - Thu, 07/16/2020 - 08:54

By Dahlia, Staff Writer

He sat too close to me

I could hear his breathing

I could hear my heartbeat getting faster and I’m sure he could too

He was right there

And I could hear his lungs shuddering every time he let the cold air in

I could hear his heartbeat, slow and steady unlike mine

I turned up the music, trying to drown him out

I looked out the window, trying to unsee

How close he was

I’m Sorry

WCFL Teens Blog - Thu, 07/09/2020 - 08:52

By Sophie Lucas

I’m sorry

For everything I have done

But don’t you understand I am trying

Every single day I am exhausted

For no reason

I want to lay in bed all day

I want to sink deep into its sheets and be cocooned so I can sleep forever

I smile for you

Even though it’s not true

You are stressed and my problems will never amount to yours

I am stupid for complaining about nothing

No matter what I do it’s just never enough

Nothing brings me joy anymore

I want to lay in the middle of a forest as the moon illuminates the trees as I lay in the soft moss

Slowly I will decay into the ground, but I will always see the moon

As it shines its light, it’s a comforting light

No one will remember my name as I fade away

The warmth of my bed comforts me because I have no reason to get up

I’m sorry

I’m sorry for never joining the writing contest

You didn’t know it was because I thought my writing would never be good enough.

I’m sorry I didn’t keep swimming

The water had become too suffocating and I was just so tired

I’m sorry I had missing school work

Concentrating is too hard no matter how hard I try

I’m sorry I didn’t make a schedule

You just don’t understand even if I write it down I won’t do it because I am forgetful.

I’m sorry I didn’t let you read my writings

It’s because it’s personal to me

I’m sorry that I lie

It’s because I am scared that if you knew me you would hate me

I am sorry – I am so sorry for everything.

It’s a dangerous thing –

If you let it run free it will cut you into pieces.

But if you keep it at your side, it will never hurt you.

You will be safe from the pain of trust.

But the moment you think you might have control

It’s a lie to yourself.

It will run free from you

And you will lay somewhere in pieces…

and crying.

One Life, Climate Change

WCFL Teens Blog - Thu, 06/25/2020 - 08:06

People always say life is amazing, that it will all be worth it in the end.

But what’s the point of not telling that person you like that you love and appreciate them?

What’s stopping you from going out and having fun with friends?

We only get one chance at life, one chance at having fun.

And chances are some of us won’t get to live to be old.

Most nights I lie awake at 2 am,

I wonder where I’ll be

Years from now.

Other nights at 2 am,

I wonder if I’ll make it that far.

I didn’t know your name,

And I still wonder what it could be,

Even as I see you every other night.

You’re fairly good at this child’s game.

I think for now I’ll give you a nickname;

“Boy Who Runs Under My Oak Tree,”

or “Boy Who Runs to be Free.”

And every night it’s all the same,

It’s a never changing scene,

a loop without an ending cut.

And I want to ask what this could mean,

Yet I know your only response would be “what?”,

as you don’t know about my spot behind the screen.

You don’t know that I wait for you, but,

I wish you knew about our matching routine,

so that our loop would finally have to be cut.

House Fire

Flames roaring,

Flying wisps,

Rising from the ground,

Soft whispering,

Calling me,

Trying to entice me,

Ashes are left,

Tears are shed,

You are dead.

Known as the God of Music, but he is so much more

Poetry, medicine, sun, archery, and even the sun

He will

His golden chariot around the earth

Spreading the heat and warmth of the sun

Poets would look to him for godly inspiration, to be able to string words together

Musicians would ask for his skill on stage

Doctors would ask for guidance

Known as the counterpart of his sister Artemis

As the

The dark bird Raven is known as a messenger

To bring the humans his prophecies

He is the sun

The heat that kisses your checks

in your heart
