Return to Curbside Pickup Service Effective November 19

Washington County Free Library Temporarily Returns to Curbside Pickup Service Effective November 19th.

Hagerstown, MD— Due to increased community spread in Washington County, Board of Trustees and Administration at Washington County Free Library, with the support of the Washington County Health Department, have made the decision to temporarily suspend in person services at all locations effective Thursday, November 19. This change will be re-evaluated on December 9.

Library materials will be available for check out through curbside pickup service. Curbside pickup at the Alice Virginia and David W. Fletcher Library in downtown Hagerstown will be available Monday-Friday 10 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 10 AM to 2 PM. Branch library pickup hours may vary and will be listed on our website at washcolibrary.org.

Emailed or texted notices for holds placed on materials will include a link to schedule curbside pickup service using an online calendar system. Curbside pickup service is contactless. Staff will place items in a labeled bag on a table near the curbside pickup space for the customer to collect. Please continue to practice social distancing and do not approach library staff during curbside pickups. Patrons picking up materials are encouraged to wear a mask.

Returned library materials will only be accepted through book drops. All returned WCFL materials are quarantined for at least 48 hours as recommended by the Maryland Department of Health. As an extra precaution, patrons utilizing curbside pickup may decide to quarantine items for an additional 24 hours before use. Fines and fees will resume for overdue or lost library materials as of November 30. These can be paid online or in exact change in an envelope or bag with your name and library card number included at curbside pickup.

To place holds on materials at this time, visit the online catalog available through our website, washcolibrary.org. Log in using your card number and pin to browse or search materials, and to place holds.
