Introducing Library Holds Lockers!

Washington County Free Library is excited to announce the introduction of a new 24/7 smart locker system for pick-up of library holds. This smart locker system, located at the North Pointe Shopping Center, will act as a contactless library branch to expand service to the North End.
This is the first off-site library smart locker system in the state and reflects exciting innovations to advance accessibility by making library materials available safely, efficiently, and in ways that work with more Washington County residents’ schedules.
Community members can place holds to order library materials, like books and movies, from the library catalog. These items will be placed in the lockers and the borrower will receive a notification when the items are ready. Then, they simply visit the locker kiosk and follow the onscreen instruction to scan their library card. The corresponding locker door will automatically pop open with the items ready!
A new book drop is also available at the North Pointe locker location for easy returns of library materials. For more details about this new smart locker service, as well as the combination locker systems available in Boonsboro, Hancock, Smithsburg, and Williamsport for holds pickups, visit the Locker Pick-Ups page here.
Washington County Free Library appreciates the support of the Washington County Government for this innovative new service, as well as the support of the City of Hagerstown and Bowman Development Corp. for this addition to the library’s community offerings.
