Women in the History of Classical Guitar

In a presentationthat includes discussion, listening, and live performance, Dr. Candice Mowbray leads audiences through an appreciative look at the accomplishments and contrivutions of women as players and composers throughout the history of classical guitar. Beginning in the Reaissance and ending with the Great Dames of the 20th century, this informative presentation both enlightens and entetains- and you don't have to be a guitarist to enjoy learning about great players and music. This presentation is co-sponsored by Marlow Guitar International.

Dr. Candice Mowbray earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Classical Guitar Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia. She enjoys an active career as a solist, chamber musician, teacher, and guest lecturer. She has given talks for the Guitar Foundation of America Convention in Los Angeles, Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society, Bethlehem Guitar FEstival, Boulanger Initiative, Ibero-American Guitar Festival at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian and Kreykenbohm Series.
