15 Hr per week Library Assistant - Hancock (Veterans Memorial) Library


The Hancock Branch Library of the Washington County Free Library,  has a 15 hour per week opening in our County Service Department.  This candidate (Library Assistant) will also substitute when needed, rotating in 7 Branch Library locations. This entry-level, dual-role position not only assists patrons at the circulation desks, but also shelves materials to make them available to the public.  Duties include Circulation desk duties, greeting, assisting patrons with charging, discharging library materials, data entry, shelving books and materials, and other duties as assigned.  Required skills, knowledge and abilities: Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with a diverse population.   A Library Assistant provides exemplary customer service to our patrons. This position is physical in nature. It requires lifting and bending/stooping.  The position also requires moving library materials up to 20 lbs. from book drops to book carts and moving carts of books to designated locations within the library. Must have the ability to work individually and with others. Interested candidates must be able to work a schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Must have own transportation.
