PT- Children's Associate Librarian I (20 hours per week)

Children’s Associate Librarian I (Part-Time) needed for the Hagerstown Branch of the Washington County Free Library. Immediate part time, 20 hours per week position for Children's Library Associate.  Bachelor's degree required, bacground in working with children a plus.  Tentative schedule is: Tues-Thurs. 5:00-9:00 PM, alternating Saturdays 8:45-5:00 PM and 8 hours during the week when not working on the alternating Saturday.  Duties include conducting a half hour family storytime on Thursday evening once per week, 1 monthly preschool science/art program on Saturdays, and 1 monthly science/art related program for elementary children on Saturdays.  Duties also include staffing children's desk when not planning or conducting a program.  We are seeking a smart and motivated learner who will make families feel welcome in using our library.  In addition to the bachelors' degree, basic computer skills, oral and written skills proficiency, and previous work with children or teaching experience are needed for the sucessful candidate. Valid driver's license required.  Also must secure Maryland Certification within 24 months of appointment which is provided.
