Join the Library's Youth Team!

Excitement awaits for one special individual to join the Library's teen department.  We are looking for an outgoing, forward looking, innovative person to coordinate programming and reach out to our local partners to move the young adult department to a new level.  This is a full time Library Associate's position.  He/she must be team oriented and energetic with a strong public service commitment.  Daily reference work and readers advisory with teens is a core part of this position.  Leading a team to plan a ComicCon, keeping abreast of what is new in teen literature, working with a teen advisory board, creating opportunities for teens to express themselves, and working with the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts are just a few of the challenging and rewarding tasks awaiting the successful candidate.  We want our new employee to be open to change and new ideas as new technologies and opportunities emerge.  This job entails working with community groups and schools, and the successful applicant will be responsible for the development of the teen collection and its maintenance, as well as working to create special events.  This is with the outh services division; our teen department being comprised of two oeople working in concert with the Children's Dept. staff.  

 Also must be willing to secure the  Maryland Library Associate Certification provided by the library within 2 years of appointment.  Application and cover letter must be received no later than 5 PM, October 15, 2021.

Education/Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree.  Experience in work for and with young adults (ages 13-18).
