Join us at the Smithsburg Branch Library at 7 PM on Tuesday, April 11 for a presentation by Smithsburg Historical Society President Jefferson Boyer.
Although most people know that Smithsburg was occupied by Union troops and shelled by Confederates during the Civil War, the nearby Cavetown community has its own Civil War stories, starting with the seizure of the Cavetown Cannon by Union Soldiers in 1861, to cows and horses hidden in basements and caves to recently discovered soldier's accounts of military campsites near Cavetown.
