McCauley Lecture April 2023

Black and gold ornate background with white serif font

Join historian John Schildt for a lively and informative discussion of the local units who served in the 29th for our upcoming April 2023 McCauley Lecture on Monday, April 10 in the Fletcher Library Community Room.

Formed in World War 1, the 29th Infantry Division is renowned for valor and sacrifice on D-Day's infamous Omaha Beach during World War Two. The soldiers of the 29th came from Maryland, Virginia, and other communities that had, just a couple generations earlier, sent soldiers to opposing armies during the Civil War; this heritage won them the name, "The Blue and Gray Division."

This event will be live-streamed! Click here to watch the program live.
