November 2020 Return to Curbside Pickup Service

Due to increased community COVID-19 spread in Washington County, Board of Trustees and Administration at Washington County Free Library, with the support of the Washington County Health Department, have made the decision to temporarily suspend in person services at all locations effective Thursday, November 19. This change will be re-evaluated on December 9. 

Library materials will be available for check out through curbside pickup service. Emailed or texted notices for holds placed on materials will include a link to schedule curbside pickup service using an online calendar system. 


 

Fletcher Branch Library Curbside Pickup Hours 

The Alice Virginia and David W. Fletcher Branch Library in downtown Hagerstown has two city-designated spaces along South Potomac Street and two spaces along Antietam Street marked by signs on the meters. When you arrive, please call the posted phone number. 

Monday - Friday: 10 AM to 6 PM
Saturday: 10 AM to 2 PM

 

Branch Library Curbside Pickup Hours

Several branch libraries in the county will have a space reserved for curbside pickup clearly marked by a sign. Due to space restrictions, some branch libraries may have Walk Up Pickup Service only. When you arrive, please call the posted phone number on a sign outside of the library door.

Clear Spring Memorial Library
Tuesday - Thursday: 1 to 6 PM

Hancock Memorial Library

Tuesday - Wednesday: 11 AM to 4 PM

Sharpsburg Branch Library

Smithsburg Branch Library

During Curbside Pickup:

Curbside pickup service is contactless. Staff will place items in a labeled bag on a table near the curbside pickup space for the customer to collect. Please continue to practice social distancing and do not approach library staff during curbside pickups. Patrons picking up materials are encouraged to wear a mask.

Returning Library Materials:

Returned library materials will only be accepted through book drops. All returned WCFL materials are quarantined for at least 48 hours as recommended by the Maryland Department of Health. As an extra precaution, patrons utilizing curbside pickup may decide to quarantine items for an additional 24 hours before use.
Fines and fees will resume for overdue or lost library materials as of November 30. These can be paid online or in exact change in an envelope or bag with your name and library card number included at curbside pickup.

Placing Holds:

To place holds on materials at this time, visit the online catalog here. Log in using your card number and pin to browse or search materials, and to place holds. If you would like to call to place a hold or have questions about placing holds, please call 301-739-3250 ext. 300 or your branch library. For library account questions, please use ext. 205. 

 


 

Other Services:

Bookmobile service has been temporarily suspended effective November 19 and will be re-eavlauted December 9. 

Library customers can visit the eLibrary page here for unlimited 24/7 access to ebooks, movies, magazines, comics, TV, research databases, and more for all ages. Online registration is also available for new users to access our online resources. Register for an account using the online library catalog here.
