Release Date

Release Date

Sharpsburg, MD – The Town of Sharpsburg and Washington County Free Library, with the support of the Nora Roberts Foundation, are excited to announce the addition of a permanent StoryWalk to the Sharpsburg Park with a ribbon-cutting there at 10 AM on Saturday, April 22.

The ribbon-cutting will also feature the storytelling of Jim Bryson at 10:45 AM, crafts, games, bubbles, and other family fun following brief remarks

On the new StoryWalk, families will have the opportunity to walk along a designated trail while enjoying a featured children’s book page by page. Pedestals with frames to protect story pages are spaced along the path to be enjoyed at a leisurely or a brisk pace. Librarians will select new stories for the StoryWalk periodically so readers of all ages can enjoy the experience again and again.

This addition to the park will encourage parents to read more with their children, develop in families a love of healthy physical activity, give kids the opportunity to connect with nature and the outdoors, and provide the community with another wonderful place for making memories.

Washington County Free Library Summer Reading Club’s theme this year is “All Together Now,” a celebration of kindness and friendship. The Town of Sharpsburg, the Nora Roberts Foundation, and the library are excited to read and walk with you all together now!
