Wireless Printing at WCFL

WCFL patrons can send files to a library printer from their own computer or mobile device! Use your own laptop, smartphone, or tablet to upload your files – from the library, home, or work – to then print at the library!

How It Works

  • All you need is your WCFL library card number and PIN, and the files you want to print
    • If you do not have a library card, you can create a printing account number and PIN (first time use only)
    • Be sure to save your printing account number and PIN to use again for wireless printing in the future!
  • You can upload from a web browser, install the wireless printing app on your device, or forward an email with the attachments to print
    • The following sections include instructions for each option

Printing From the Web

  • To print from a web browser, select this link to the WCFL SmartAlec page
  • Sign in with your library card number and PIN or Printing Account number and PIN
  • Follow the instructions to select and upload your files

Printing From the SmartALEC Mobile App

  • Install the SmartALEC app on your mobile device (first time use only)
    • For iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.), get SmartALEC from the App Store
    • For Android devices (Samsung Galaxy, Nexus, Pixel, etc.), get SmartALEC from the Google Play Store
  • Sign in with your library card number and PIN or Printing Account number and PIN
  • Follow the instructions to select and upload your files
  • Select "Print" in the application you used to open the file
  • Select SmartALEC as the printer

Printing From an Email Attachment

  • Sign in with your library card number and PIN or create a Printing Account number and PIN (first time only)
  • Follow the instructions to forward an email to the wireless printing email address
    • Only file attachments will be available to print in the kiosk; information in the body of the email or links will not show up.

At the Library

  • Within 24 hours, go to a Print Release Station kiosk on the third floor of the Fletcher Library or the main desk at other WCFL locations during open hours to print your files
